Bill Kreutzmann brought his Billy & The Kids project to Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA, last night to kick off their two-night run in the San Francisco area with a show that featured two very special guests.

Venue proprietor Bob Weir and The Kids’ Tom Hamilton started out the night with a surprise three-song opening set of “Silver Threads and Golden Needles” (Weir’s first performance of the tune since a 2006 RatDog show), “Friend of the Devil” and “Birdsong.” Lettuce and Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno sat in during the entirety of Billy & The Kids’ two-set performance, and Weir joined in on the second set. The night included Dead favorites like “West L.A. Fadeaway,” “The Wheel,” “I Know You Rider,” “China Cat Sunflower” and more.

Billy & The Kids and Kranso will return to the stage tonight at The Warfield in San Francisco, with The Greyboy Allstars opening.
